Latin music has been on the rise since the 2000s and still strives to reach to the billboards to this day. For Puerto Rican artist Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, known professionally as Bad Bunny, changed the urban Latino music for listeners and artists. I feel like “Vete”  is different from the rest of the songs. It brings a different type of vibe but in a good way.

Bad Bunny is a 25 year-old Puerto Rican artist who made his career by producing music on SoundCloud and other music platforms. He mainly focuses on Latin trap and reggaeton. He has released two albums, Oasis, an album that he collaborated with J Balvin, and X 100PRE, his first album.

Bad Bunny latest single, “Vete,” was released on Nov. 21, 2019. This song deals with heartbreak and leaving his summer love behind. The Spanish word “vete” means “leave” in English. The reggaeton hit song already has 29 million views and 1 million likes on the YouTube Platform.

Critics have assumed that this song is targeted towards someone and simply saying to leave and get out of their lives. In the song “Vete” the lyrics state, “No te preocupes por nosotros dos, nuestra historia ya está muerta.” Translated in English, Bad Bunny says “Don’t worry about us, our story is already dead,” referring to a person and how they shouldn’t worry about the past relationship as the connection faded away.

I personally like this song for its beat. The beat has a moderately slow tempo in the beginning, but when the beat drops it brings more hype into it. It’s a song that you can dance to and sing along to. The song also helps in dealing with past relationships and heartbreaks. When Bad Bunny wrote the song, he created a storyline that can take place in real life. It talks about real situations that people might experience when going through a break up.

Sometimes, when I listen to Latino music, I usually strive more for Latin trap because it brings more of a positive and good vibe. This song has to be one of my top three songs from Bad Bunny. One area I believe the song could improve in is rhythm. The rhythm could use more sound and beat. Other than that, it’s still a great song and brings such a positive vibe to a party or even listening to it alone.
