Zeta Phi Beta offers scholarship

The Carolyn Cain scholarship has now been announced  by the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. This specific scholarship is in honor of Iota Charter Member and past National Scholarship Chair, Carolyn Cain. The purpose of this is to give help to graduating high school seniors in obtaining a college education to promote the sorority.This is a scholarship targeted towards underrepresented minority students who are currently high school seniors in the Indianapolis Metropolitan area.

More on the sorority. Zeta Phi Beta was founded in 1920 on Jan. 16 at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. This sorority has four main principles: Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. The organization consists of women who are undergraduate students and/or are college undergraduates who are seeking to make an impact on the community.

The application materials that will be needed are a completed application, a one page essay, a letter of recommendation, proof of college acceptance and a special attachment. The girls wanting this must be a resident of Indianapolis or a surrounding Indianapolis area, they must be a graduating senior, pursuing an undergraduate degree and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.0 on a 5.0 scale.

The award amount for this scholarship is $500 and the application is due on March 20. All of this information can be picked up in student services.
