Tennis team looks to improve despite lack of experience

The Cards tennis team lost four of their seven varsity players from last season.  Though their experience is low, the team still has high hopes, according to head coach Mr. Harry Schwartz.

“Our team has very little experience this season,” Schwartz said.  “The most experience we have on our team this season is our one doubles team of seniors Adam Coomes and Nick Holland.  Coomes and Holland are the captains this year.  We have other returners from last year, but they need more play time.”

According to Schwartz, other returners for the team includes junior Stephen Broadhead who is playing one singles and junior Chase Cawthorne and sophomore Dane Haynes who play two doubles.

Schwartz hopes the team can gain enough experience in time for their sectional meet. Other than that the team is looking good, according to Schwartz.

The team’s next meet is tomorrow, Sept. 3, against Martinsville. The meet will be home and is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
