Unbeatens Clash in Homecoming Game

The SHS football team faces off against Bloomington South tonight, Sept. 19.  Both teams are 4-0 and are the top two teams in Conference Indiana. In the state, the Cards are ranked ninth whereas the Panthers are ranked 17th, but the Panthers are ranked second in the state among 5A schools whereas the Cards are ranked seventh among 6A schools, according to Maxpreps.

The Cards have scored 147 points in the first four games, the Panthers have 150 and the Cards have allowed 77 points, the Panthers only have allowed 44, according to Maxpreps.

All other stats are close to even.  However, one thing gives the Cards an edge would be that they have homefield advantage. The Cards are the underdogs for the game. Coach Brian Dugger has his thoughts.

“I am fine with it,” Dugger said. “We never get any credit on the south side.”

Along with being a deciding game for both teams, it’s homecoming for SHS.  The homecoming king and queen will both be crowned at halftime.  All homecoming princes, princesses and the other king and queen candidates will also be acknowledged at this time.

Come out and support the Cards in their efforts tonight, and see which two SHS students will be crowned homecoming queen and king.
