the Journal REWIRED

Clara Oesterling
“I quit.” Those are the final words I said to Drew Tapp, editor-in-chief, on the last day of school. I find myself wanting to back out of things often but never actually doing so. As much as I claim to dread newspaper, I constantly wind back up in room 400. Staying at school past dark on Monday nights wasn’t exactly on my agenda when I walked into high school, but I’m not here to complain. The end result is all that matters. The satisfaction of grasping the newsprint paper with the ink that sometimes smudges on my fingers from holding it for too long is why I do what I do. It’s rewarding. Anyways, enough of talking about newspaper. I promise it’s not my WHOLE life (although sometimes that’s what it feels like). For a person who allegedly hates school, I’m always there. Whether it’s lifeguarding the freshman gym class, running mile repeats around campus at cross-country practice, or meeting with the rest of student council regarding who knows what, my phone’s location always seems to be stuck at 971 E. Banta Road. I guess being the student life editor is fitting after all. Needless to say, I’m enjoying every moment of it for what it’s worth.     P.S. : I never quit.
