One last home game
Cards baseball gets their 10th win of the season in the week before the sectional tournament
The SHS baseball team rolled over North Central with a final score of 10-4 on May 20. With this win, the Cards’ record moves to 10-12 on the season. After their win against the Panthers, the Cards will now prepare for Beech Grove on May 22.
The Cards victory over the Panthers was due largely to their outing in the third inning, where the Cards put up four runs on five hits. After the first inning, the Cards held the Panthers to only one run scored for the rest of the game.
Pitching proved to be a key factor that allowed the Cards to collect a win against the Panthers. Senior Landon Godsey threw a complete game, all seven innings, and only allowed four runs on six hits. Godsey managed to strike out 11 batters while throwing a total of 100 pitches throughout the game.
Although the Cards got by the Panthers easily, they will have a tough road ahead of them. With the sectional tournament right around the corner, they must make final preparations for the end of the season. The Cards will play their first game of the sectional tournament on May 26 against Roncalli.
