Five benefits of journaling
Journaling is most commonly known as a way of writing down thoughts, ideas or feelings. But it is also an unfiltered experience that can bring about unexpected things like creativity and new ideas. Before implementing something into your daily routine, it is important to know the many positives that come along with journaling daily.
1.) Accomplishing goals
Writing down aspirations or personal goals can help put them into perspective. Writing down your goals essentially can help prioritize what is most important to you. This results in staying focused on one thing at a time.
2.) Releasing pent up feelings and everyday stress
After recovering from a pandemic everyone has spent more alone time than ever before. Learning how to release built up emotions when not being alone all the time is difficult. But journaling can help release those feelings in a controlled and healthy way.
3.) Tracking self growth + reflection
Writing down how you feel or what you do every day is a visual way of seeing personal growth. And if you’re not necessarily growing, it can be an easy way to see where you are at, and possibly what you can do to improve yourself. Another way this can help with self growth is helping to identify emotions and how to cope with them.
4.) Inspiration
While making lists or self-reflecting, inspiration can flow. It can give you a new perspective in several different areas like school, personal life or work. This might mean a newly found interest in a new hobby or even new ideas with everyday tasks that bring joy.
5.) Reducing stress
Not only can journaling improve how you cope with emotions, but it can also reduce stress by keeping your thoughts more organized. Making lists or showing how much you’ve done for the day can show what you have accomplished and what you need to do. This will also help to manage and prioritize your time more efficiently.
