Senior John Veen runs to get back on defense during the Cards game against Franklin Community. The Cards defeated Franklin Community 21-7 on May 16.

The SHS Cards Coed Lacrosse team won yesterday against Franklin Community. The Cards offense had one of their best performances to date, scoring 21 goals, while their defense only allowed seven goals.

The Cards offense was led by seniors Andrew Forrester, Nolan Hall and  junior Mark Beatty.

According to Beatty, both Franklin and the Cards were around the same skill level. Franklin is a first year program and the Cards have a lot of new players this year. These factors made the blowout win feel more special.

“I think this is definitely a confidence booster,” Schank said. “We took a big loss to Perry on Friday, and having a win before senior night is going to be a big confidence booster for us and help us on the fundamentals.”

Although the Cards played well Franklin scored three straight goals in less than a minute during the second quarter.

“The key to winning that game was mostly getting our transition offense and defense under control,” head coach Tyler Schank said.
