‘Room for growth’
An in-depth review into Gracie Abram’s new album ‘Good Riddance’
Gracie Abrams released her first full length album named “Good Riddance,” on Feb. 23. This album beautifully tells the story of past relationships that still haunts Abrams today.
With 12 songs on the album, there are a few songs that have risen to fame. The trending songs on this album are Abrams lead singles “Best,” “I know it won’t work” and “Where do we go now?”
This album holds many beautiful ballads, including the song “Best.” As the opening song of the album, it serves as an introduction to the album. It introduces the pain and guilt she’s experienced in a previous relationship. “You’re the worst of my crimes,” and “All of your feelings I played with them.” These lyrics are powerful and because of this, her listeners believe her lyricalism is similar to Taylor Swifts.
One song that deserves fame is “I should hate you.” This song has a great build up to the bridge of the song that has lyrics that bring life to the devastating reality of the aftermath of a breakup.
The only downfall of this album is the lack of variety in it. All of the songs are either upbeat or slower, not a lot of songs in between. However, her lyrics do make up for this. For example in her song “This is what the drugs are for” Abrams sings, “Though I’ve tried I can’t pretend that I don’t sit around and think about you. Like all I ever do is think about you.” These lyrics are intense and bring attention to the feeling of trying to move on, but not being able to.
All in all, this album is very well written and produced. With this being her first full length album, there is room for growth but that will come with time and experience. Hopefully she will keep making music and improving because she is on her rise to fame with “Good Riddance.”
