For car riders at SHS, they were met with bright orange barriers guiding them in and out of the school’s parking lot.
For many drivers, those barriers became more of a hassle than a help.
Taking away the orange barriers in the parking lot is more helpful than keeping them there.
Minutes would go by of students waiting for their guardians to drop them off. But they couldn’t move unless they knocked over a barrier.
Pushing one of the barriers over could have happened any morning because of how tight the turn was going into the lot.
If the wind was strong enough, they could also be blown around, causing them to get in the way more than they were helping drivers navigate.
A simple line on the ground works just the same and isn’t an obnoxious object in people’s way.
Thankfully, SHS has done just that: separate cars rolling in and rolling out.
While the school replaced the barriers with the painted line, the parking lot has been more effective. If it stays this way, drivers will no longer worry about bright orange barriers blocking their way.
