SHS outlasts Perry Meridian
The SHS Cardinals girls tennis team played their rival school the Perry Meridian Falcons in an exhausting two hour meet according to Junior Anna Gunderson. They beat them with an ending match score of Southport four and Perry Meridian left only with one point scored against Southport.
“It feels great beating Perry,” Gunderson says, “Beating them is one of the most important things to us because it is our rival school.”
This has been an age old rivalry between schools since 1972-73 when the two schools split up into what they are today, and that is why Gunderson was so ecstatic with their triumph over them.
According to Gunderson she won her personal matches 6-4 and the second one 6-1, Senior Danielle Keeler won 6-0 and 6-1, and their two doubles teams both beat Perry’s for the ending 4-1 win.
