The SHS girls track team heads to Warren Central tonight to participate in the Warren Relays.

The meet is the first relay-only event of the season for SHS, meaning all the individual events typically seen in a regular track meet are eliminated. The team’s only other relay meet, the Southport Relays, was canceled due to inclement weather.

Head coach Mr. Nathan Fishel says that aside from moving people around to fill events, the team hasn’t given its full attention to tonight’s relays.

“We’re pretty much looking towards next week,” Fishel said. “County and sectionals are the following week. This a good, fun, nice weather night. It’ll be a good tune-up.”

Along with host Warren Central, Southport will be competing against Ben Davis, Bishop Chatard, East Central, Franklin Central and Seymour.

The meet begins tonight at 5:30. The girls track team is in action again next Tuesday as county gets underway.
