Cards to be lead by freshmen in sectional play
SHS will be hosting the boy’s tennis sectionals this Wednesday, and the Cards will be looking to advance, despite a record of 0-14. The team has not performed to what they have hoped, but are still composed of a freshman dominated team.
There will be six teams participating in the Sectionals, which are composed of three rounds. Decatur Central, Perry Meridian, Scecina Memorial, Shortridge, and SHS. the first round will be played on September 30, at 5 p.m. Round two will be played October 1, at 5 p.m. Round 3 will be on October 3 at 10 a.m.
Three out of five starters for the Sectional Varsity team are freshman. The freshman playing are Zach Bozarts, Colston Streit and Noah Hall. Other starters are senior Chase Cawthorne and junior Dane Haynes.
The team has struggled going into the matches ready and excited to play.
“We are the host school and we need to go into our matches excited about this opportunity and play relaxed and free,” head coach Harry Schwartz said.
