Cards struggle in season opener

SHS girl’s Volleyball season started off with a win for JV and a loss for Varsity against the Decatur Central Hawks on Tuesday, Aug. 16.  

Assistant Varsity Coach, Chelsea Brothers, says that it was first game jitters for the Varsity team.

“I’m looking forward to them being way more competitive,” Brothers said. “…we have a lot of talent.”

Junior Maggie Davis acquired eight assists, Junior Tiana Wright had six kills and Freshman Nicole Vidaurre with five digs during the Varsity game.

Despite their loss, Wright claims they will get better.

“I’m excited to play more games, because I think we have a lot of potential,” Wright said.
