News Brief: North Korea gets its own Netflix
September 13, 2016
With the addition of more lenient policy and Manbang, a less offering version of Netflix, videos are now able to be streamed directly to North Koreans’ televisions. Netflix has even changed its twitter description to “Manbang Knockoff.”
According to the Hustle, Manbang means everywhere. However, Manbang only allows government approved videos. In that mix, Russian and English language courses are available.
While their government has strict control over internet usage, North Korea has more than it’s own Netflix. It also has tablets and computers of its own.
