Freshman Gavin Hensley will be playing the role of Flounder for the fall musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid. He says there are some similarities between him and his character.

“At least when I was younger, I was very shy and he (Flounder) is very shy,” Hensley said. “And he gets himself in awkward situations a lot.”

This being Hensley’s first musical at SHS, there is a lot he is excited about. He says he enjoys the social aspect the most.

“My favorite part is meeting all the new people and getting to know people, whether or not they are older than me,” Hensley said. “I get to know who I am and who they are.”
