The SHS girls soccer team defeated George Washington Community High School 9-1 on Sept. 11 to bring their win total to six.

This may not seem like a lot of wins but with that sixth win, the team beat the single season record for most total wins by a girls soccer team at SHS. Last year the team tied the school record with five wins so returning players set a goal to try and beat the record.

Junior Jordan Cox said that the win felt good and she was happy that they were finally able to beat the record.

Sophomore Kendall Henderson scored one of nine goals scored by the lady cards in the match. Henderson, who started varsity as a freshman last year, said that she is excited that the team won, but can’t wait to see what they can do in the playoffs.

“The fact that we have a good enough team to beat the record is what excites me about this year,” Henderson said.

Out of the nine goals freshman Chloe Patton scored two and one of which was the very first goal of the game which came in the first five minutes. Senior Jaclyn Speiser scored two goals as well these are her second and third goals ever while playing soccer.
