An Indiana teenager, Sam Bishop, chose to donate more than $10,000 in birthday money to A Rosie Place, a children’s hospital. Bishop, who has Type 1 Diabetes, turned 15 on Sept. 25. He raised the money on GoFundMe, according to WTHR, and was thankful for the opportunity because the kids at the hospital have it “much harder” than he does.

A Rosie Place is a hospital for medically-fragile children, located in St. Joseph County. The money, totalling $10,343, will contribute to paying staff during the hospital’s weekend sleepovers. The hospital plans to increase its operating hours early next year.

About the Writer
Haley Miller, News Editor

Hello! I’m Haley Miller, a junior at SHS. Last year, I was a reporter for The Journal, and I’m super excited to be back as News Editor. While working on The Journal is very time-consuming, I participate in other activities, including theater and Cardinal Cadre. I also intern for The Southsider Voice, a local newspaper. As you may have guessed, writing is an important part of my life, and I dedicate a lot of time and energy into making mine great. As a result, my newspaper work usually takes precedence over homework in other classes. It’s always worth it.

I hope the effort we put into this publication shows. Happy reading!
