Cards cruise to the win past Space Pioneers

Winning by an average margin of 21.3, the SHS boys basketball team remains undefeated with a 4-0 record. Last night, Dec. 16, the team beat Indianapolis Northwest 86-24.

SHS shot 10/22 (45 percent) from three point range and the team shot 14/23 (60.9 percent) from the FT line. The Cards only had 12 turnovers and everyone that played had at least two points.

“Obviously, we were the better team,” varsity head coach Kyle Simpson said. “It was good to get guys minutes that haven’t played as much… Everybody did some good things last night.”

Northwest, now 0-6, was lead in points by junior Trayshun Barron with nine points. Northwest shot 7/31 (22.5 percent) in FG.

SHS was lead in rebounds by senior Demari Davis with seven and lead in assists by senior Josh Springer with four. Leading SHS in scoring was both junior Joey Brunk and sophomore Paul Scruggs with 13. Both Scruggs and Brunk played under 13 minutes last night.

“We came out and took care of business,” Scruggs said.

SHS takes on Conference Indiana rival, Bloomington North, this Friday, Dec. 19. The game is at Bloomington North and starts at 7:30. Bloomington North is 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
