The SHS girls varsity basketball team was triumphant against the Beech Grove Hornets on Jan. 23 with a final score of 51-32 for a pleasant end to their senior night.

Fouls were being called left and right, and the Hornets had many players diving to the ground.

Despite these conditions, the girls were able to play at their best, scoring as many three pointers as field goals in the first half. Senior Lexie Green was a standout performer, shooting four three pointers in the first three quarters.

The Lady Cards started off slow in the first quarter, scoring only six points to tie with the Hornets, but after that the Lady Cards never sacrificed the lead. The second quarter is when the Lady Cards started to create space from the Hornets, going from 6-6 to 20-11 by the end of the quarter.

The Lady Cards’ game stayed consistent in the third quarter with one of their players, senior Kayden Casey, getting fouled and still making her shot. The quarter ended with a score of 40-16, and things were looking good for the Lady Cards going into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Hornets started to come back and score another 16 points. However, the final score was 51-32 with the Lady Cards coming out on top.

The Lady Cards are scheduled to face the Columbus East Titans on Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
