Recipe: Snickerdoodle cookies
If you have a sweet tooth and like cinnamon, these cookies might be right up your alley. This is a family recipe that has been passed down through generations, and they are a common favorite. This recipe will make around 36 cookies.
Ingredients for Dough
- 2 ¾ cups of flour
- ½ cups of butter
- ¼ teaspoons of salt
- ½ cups of shortening
- 1 teaspoons of baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 ½ cups of sugar
Ingredients for Topping
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Step 2: Mix together the flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar, then set it aside.
Step 3: Beat together the butter, shortening, and sugar.
Step 4: Beat in the eggs and vanilla with the butter, shortening and sugar mixture.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the mixture.
Step 6: In a separate bowl, mix together the 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1 ½ teaspoons of sugar for the topping then set it aside for a moment.
Step 7: Roll the dough into 1 tablespoon sized balls and roll them into the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Step 8: Refrigerate them for 30 minutes.
Step 9: Bake them for 10 minutes or until they are crisp and light brown.
