Coach should be kicked out of the NFL

On January 18th, 11 out of 12 balls used in the AFC Championship between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots were deflated by almost two pounds or 16 percent under regulation weight. This wouldn’t be the first time the Patriots have been caught cheating. Back in 2007 Bill Belichick, head coach of the Patriots, had filmed the New York Jets defensive signs. He was later fined $500,000 and the Patriots were also fined $250,000 and lost their first round pick in the 2008 draft.

Last Saturday, Belichick stated in a press conference that the change in temperature and rubbing the ball may have changed the pressure in the balls. After this was said, Bill Nye, every kids favorite science guy, said that what Belichick said didn’t make any sense and that the only way to change the pressure is from the air pressure needle. The NFL is still conducting an investigation on exactly how the balls got under regulated pressure.

NFL referees are required to check 12 of the home teams balls and 12 of the away teams two hours and 15 minutes prior to the kickoff. After the first half is over all the footballs are held with the referees. Now, that being said, the only time someone could deflate the balls would be a couple minutes before the kickoff or during the game, where there is risk of being caught.

During the first half of the game between the Colts and the Patriots, linebacker D’Qwell Jackson intercepted the ball from Tom Brady, Quarterback for the Patriots. After the play was over Jackson went to a referee and said the ball seemed to be deflated but the referees did nothing. Now, because of that I believe the NFL should look into how the referees did nothing after Jackson’s comment or during halftime when they had the balls with them the entire time.

I personally believe Belichick was behind all this because of his past and I believe he is the kind of coach that will do anything for that Super Bowl win. Don’t get me wrong he is a great football coach. His career record is 232-118, he has won four Super Bowls out of the six he has attended. But, at the end of the day he is a cheater and deserves to be kicked out of the league.

Pete Rose, one of the best players to play the game of baseball in his time, got kicked out of the hall of fame and banned from ever playing or coaching again for betting on baseball. He got banned from baseball, but Coach “Belicheat” gets to stay in the NFL. Once again, I am furious with the NFL and with the commissioner Roger Goodell. If you ask me, Belichick should be fired and banned from the NFL for good.
