Freshman basketball team looks to end the season with a win

The SHS boys freshmen basketball team closes out their season tonight with a non-conference game against Bedford North Lawrence.

The Cards enter the game with a 10-6 record. Their loss last game to North Central snapped a six game winning streak the team had been riding. The Cards are looking to restart their winning streak, even if it’s the last game of the season, head coach Ryan Gehlert says.

“For our kids, they want to win,” Gehlert said. “They want to go out on a winning note so we’re going to try and win the game tonight and definitely play some more kids.”

This is uncharted territory for the freshmen class of 2018. Playing through middle school, the team never finished with a winning record. Although nothing they can do tonight can put that in jeopardy, the team is still hyped up about the game, freshman Logan Manning says.

“(We’re) ready to finish it off with a win,” Manning said. “It’s time to get this money.”

The boys tip off at 6 o’clock tonight in the east gym.
