Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that means turkey and some delicious sides. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving here’s a delicious mashed potato recipe.
Ingredients
- 3lbs of russet or yukon gold potatoes
- Kosher salt
- ¾ of unsalted butter
- ½ of heavy cream
Steps
- Wash and peel your potatoes
- Dice your potatoes into even cubes (this helps the potatoes cook evenly)
- Then put the potatoes into a large pot and fill it with cold water
- Bring the potatoes to a boil over high heat
- While boiling add a pinch or two of kosher salt to the water
- When the potatoes are fork tender, meaning your fork can go into the potato easily, drain the water from the potatoes
- Put your potatoes in the same pot and let them rest for five minutes
- Then, in a saucepan or smaller pot, add your butter and heavy cream
- Warm this over medium-low heat
- Then mash the potatoes with either a hand mixer or even a mashing tool into a bowl
- Then add your heavy cream and butter mixture to the bowl
- Mixed until completely combined and add salt on top
