Tonight, the Cards face Ben Davis for their first round of the sectional at Perry Meridian High School. The Cards faced Ben Davis in the second game of the regular season. The game was won by a last second buzzer beater by senior, Malik Bennett. The Cards go into the tournament ranked number one in the state.

They average 71.8 points per game with 36 percent three point shooting. Missed free throws and fouls are an issue the Cards have faced as the season has progressed. The Cards are hoping to overcome those issues for tonights game.

“We’re six games away from achieving our goal, it’s not going to be easy but that’s okay.” head coach Kyle Simpson said.

Ben Davis has a record of 18-7. Ben Davis beat Indianapolis Northwest on Tuesday by a score of 73-29.  Sophomore Paul Scruggs, junior Joey Brunk and Bennett are the three highest scorers. All three of them are averaging over 17 points.

This will be senior Demari Davis’s last chance at getting a state championship and that is what he is hoping for.

“I just want us to go into every game playing our hardest and if we come up short I just want us to know we gave it 110 percent effort every game.” Davis said.

The game is tonight at Perry Meridian High School at 6 p.m.
