High school only lasts four short years, but don’t tell senior Charles Kottlowski that.
Since his freshman year, Kottlowski has been determined to pursue almost every opportunity presented to him at SHS before he graduates.
During his time in high school, he has participated in Booster Club, swimming, tennis, lacrosse, theater and band.
He believes that being involved in different activities can be very beneficial for multiple reasons and that it has taught him many values that will benefit him in the future.
“It’s given me lifelong skills,” Kottlowski said. “Leadership and time management are for sure big ones. It’s definitely helpful.”
This year, Kottlowski decided to join the tennis team.
He is already considered a leader on the boys tennis team and doesn’t mind going the extra mile to make sure his team is where they need to be.
One of the main ways Kottlowski is a leader on the team is by keeping everyone on schedule and organized.
He always sends out schedules for game days, practice plans and reminds the team what uniforms to wear.
Coaches and players have taken note of his leadership and helping out the team when it’s needed.
“I absolutely think that not only his teammates but other kids in the school also look up to him,” tennis coach James Thorpe said.
Regardless of all of the late nights Kottlowski spends keeping up with all of his extracurriculars, he always strives to thrive on the court.
“He’s a leader, a competitor, and he would do anything for anyone else on the team,” Thorpe said.
