When Tom Davis worked at SHS in 2020, things were a lot different than they are now.
Back then, he was the only Latin instructor. But when he left, the program did as well.
His last year at SHS was greatly affected by Covid. It was 2020, the year everything went online until the next school year.
“I think a lot of the stuff that we were still recovering from after Covid, a lot of that’s been resolved,” Davis said.
Davis has returned to SHS and is now working in the building with his son science teacher John Davis again. Currently, he’s helping his son manage the task of being a department head while also getting his job done.

Before Davis left, it wasn’t unusual to see John in his father’s classroom.
During his prep period, John would sit and watch his father teach because he didn’t have access to his classroom. But as of now, they only interact when one of them has a question for the other.
“He’s been doing this (for) as long as I’ve been alive,” John said. “So if I have questions on instruction, especially now that I’m department head, he’s really helpful.”
Davis helps his son with leading and interacting with other teachers now that John is the head of the science department.
Even though they don’t interact as much as they used to during the work day, they still enjoy working in the same building and being able to ask each other questions when needed.
Davis has watched his son grow and learn as a student and teacher over the last decade, and being able to work together helps make that possible.
