As October wraps up, the leaves are changing into a gleeful orange, and Halloween is right around the corner. What better way to get into a spooktacular mood than with some spooky spider cookies to enjoy the festivities.
Ingredients: (Makes ~20 cookies)
Cookies:
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
- ¾ cups of white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon of baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
Spider Decorations:
- 20 Reese’s cups
- ½ cup of milk chocolate chips
- candy eyes
To make the cookies:
- Preheat oven to 360°F.
- Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter with an electric mixer.
- Slowly add the peanut butter and sugar. Mix until the mixture is fluffy and light.
- After that, whisk in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Once that is all whisked together, add flour, baking powder and salt.
- Once the mixture is ready, scoop about a tablespoon of the dough for each cookie onto the baking sheet.
- Once everything is on the baking sheet, use your thumb to make a light imprint on each cookie for the Reese’s to fit.
- Pop them in the oven for about 10-12 minutes.
- Take them out, and let them cool for about three to five minutes.
- While they cool down, melt chocolate chips, but be careful not to burn them.
- After, place a Reese’s in the center of each cookie.
- Put the melted chocolate chips in a piping bag, and draw the spider legs.
- Last but not least, add the candy eyes onto the spider and enjoy with a tall glass of milk!
