The streets are filled with howling, laughter and people of all ages coming together to celebrate and dress up for Halloween.
It’s the one night of the year when people can dress up as anything they want, whether it’s something spooky like a ghost, something silly like a bunch of grapes with a friend, or something cute like a princess, without worrying about being judged or standing out.
Here’s what a few students dressed up as for Halloween this year.
Junior Dawt Kong matched with her friend group by dressing up as the characters from the cartoon, “Strawberry Shortcake’s Berry Bitty Adventures.”

“I’m dressing up as Orange Blossom because I like her color palette and how her personality is,” Kong said before Halloween. “I feel like it suits me a lot, and we all picked different characters to dress up as.”
For Kong, Halloween meant getting to spend time with friends, as well as getting to wear cute costumes.
Sophomore Glory Thang planned to go as the animated character Chiikawa, from the Japanese anime “Chiikawa.”
“I’m going to be wearing a big, white inflatable,” Thang said prior to Halloween. “I decided to dress up because a club that I’m in, BACI or Burmese American Community Institute, is hosting a costume contest, and I want to win the first prize, a gift bag.”

For Thang, Halloween is a time for everyone to dress up freely and express who they are.
Senior Rebecca San chose to dress up as a cat.
“I just wanted to match with my friend, Tina,” San said. “We both were deciding our costumes for the (orchestra) concert and just picked that.”

For San, Halloween is getting the chance to have fun and spend time with friends.
Sophomore Ray Edwards decided to dress as a clown.
“There wasn’t really anything else,” Edwards said. “I didn’t know what else to dress up as.”
For Edwards, Halloween is having the chance to scream with free will, for any reason at all.
