As the snowflakes flutter on our eyelashes and the chilly air adds a rosy tint to our cheeks, there’s nothing better than tasting a freshly baked dessert during the holiday season. While looking out at the glistening Christmas lights in the frosty air, a warm batch of cookies is the perfect sugary antidote for the icy weather!
Ingredients:
1 stick of unsalted softened butter
1 cup of white sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 room temperature egg
2 ½ cups of flour
¼ of teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons of baking powder
1 container of whipped buttercream frosting
Recipe:
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- In one bowl, mix the butter and egg together, and slowly add in the vanilla extract.
- In the same bowl, add in the flour, baking powder and salt while continuing to mix until the dough forms.
- Roll the dough into small balls evenly spaced from one another. Then, line the balls on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes and let cookies cool completely. (If you want a gooey cookie texture, cool for 15-20 minutes instead.)
- After cooling, spread the frosting over the top of the cookies and top with festive holiday sprinkles! Pair the cookies with a warm, rich cup of hot chocolate for the perfect Christmas treat.
