As Christmas creeps up around the corner, students begin to stress about what gift they want for the holiday season. The possibilities are endless with presents like money, jewelry or a new iPhone.

However, many people may already own those items, which makes it harder to decide what they want.
It can be difficult for a person to think of something they want without it coming with a drawback. It could be too old, outdated or plain.
Even online magazines and articles struggle to find gift ideas. For instance, Cosmopolitan has an article with the title “50 Unique Christmas Gift Ideas for 2025” which shows how tricky it is to come up with ideas. At times like this, looking at someone else’s list can help a person gain inspiration.
Here are some ideas from SHS students that you can add to your Christmas wishlist.
Freshman Ruth Sing says that she has her eyes on a pair of headphones, a MacBook and perfume.

“I want perfume so I don’t smell, headphones because the ones I have right now are uncomfortable on my ears (and) I want a MacBook so I could game and watch movies,” Sing said.
Although Sing has several things she hopes to get, one item matters more to her than the rest.
“Really only one gift holds a lot of significance to me,” Sing said. “I think it’s the headphones
because I really like listening to music and can’t go a day without it.”
Freshman Carlos Diaz has a mix of essentials as well as things he wants for Christmas, including new wrestling shoes, PS5 games and new clothes.
For Diaz, one gift in particular means more than just having footwear.

“I do wrestling for school, as a sport,” Diaz said. “That’s why I mostly need the shoes. I (also) like how they look.”
Sophomore Michelle Cer has her heart set on many things, but more specifically, beauty-care and fashion-related items.
“(I want) maybe a new vanity, maybe some new nail polish,” Cer said. “I do nails, it’s for that, and I also want new makeup and new clothes.”
The items on her wishlist aren’t just for her, but they’re also meant to help support her business as a nail technician who works from home.
“I want my clients to be happy,” Cer said. “It’s like self-therapy for them. They could come to me, I could do their nails.”
Senior Eh Sul Clain Phu has a strong prejudice against materialistic things and prefers spending quality time with the people in his life.
“I want a camera,” Phu said. “A camera holds memories that you can cherish. Even in the future, when you look back, you’ll remember those days, and you’ll know that you’ll never forget them.”
In spite of that wish, what he hopes for most isn’t something that a person can go out and buy.
“(I want) everyone to have a happy, good time and a great day,” Phu said. “You only have this day once a year, so make it feel like it’s worth it.”
