Lady Cards earn first win of the season

Thursday night the girl soccer team beat Trinity Lutheran 3-0. Junior Erin Sullivan scored two goals and freshman Brenda Tovar scored another to help the Cards win their first game of the season.

Throughout the game, the Cards kept the pressure on Trinity Lutheran forcing many turnovers and poorly placed passes.

Even though the Cards controlled the ball, they failed to score goals many times when the ball was in the box.

“If we had finished well, it would have been eight or nine (goals),” Coach Dan McLaughlin said.

When the Cards had the ball, they attacked smarter and with more patience according to McLaughlin.

“It was working on patience and possession going forward,” McLaughlin said.

The Cards next game is against Greenwood on Saturday, Aug. 29.
