From the field to the court to the kids and more, these are the stories the Journal deemed most memorable of 2015Head football coach Bill Peebles says his three year starting quarterback was very deserving of being named Marion County football player of the year.

Senior Luke Johnston, a 6’5 record-breaking quarterback, was chosen for the award this year. Johnston completed 71 percent of his passes his senior year for 2,760 yards and 37 touchdowns. He finished with 8,683 passing yards and 94 touchdowns for his career.

Johnston holds not only SHS’s single season record for passing yards, but he holds the record for career passing yards as well.

Johnston says it wasn’t just for him, the award was the effort from a lot of people to help him to get such a prestigious award.

“I wouldn’t have been able to get this if it weren’t for the offensive line, receivers, running backs or coaches,” Johnston said.
