Presidential candidates, on your marks

Bernie Sanders

Andrew Tapp, Reporter

Senator Bernie Sanders, 74, is a self-proclaimed Socialist running for the Democratic Presidential nomination. He is a radical member of his party which has led to some people being turned off by him, but has also led many to rally behind him as a face of change and progress.

He has been a strong supporter of defeating ISIS and being in a coalition with other world powers to work together to take them out. He is hesitant to send troops on the ground to fight ISIS.

He thinks the government should stay out of the decision about abortions. Another one of his major rallying points, especially for youth, has been that he thinks the government should provide free state and community college. Sanders has stated that he is very anti-gun and wants to not only restrict the selling of guns, but focus on mental health issues related to guns as well.
