Standing in a crowd full of people, out of breath from dancing with her group of friends, senior Roberta Thompson waits patiently to hear who would win the queen’s crown at Snowcoming last weekend. Similarly, senior Eli Walton was enjoying his time dancing with his date when the warning came that they were going to announce the king and queen.

Unexpecting their names to be called, both of these seniors went to the dance hoping to make some memories with friends and significant others.

Instead, they won the crowns for king and queen at the Snowcoming dance on February 27, 2016.

“It was cool to be nominated by my peers. I appreciate it… I appreciate [my peers],” Thompson said.

Walton also thinks that the whole thing was fun and he says that when get got nominated he didn’t think he would win the crown. After being crowned king and queen, both Thompson and Walton went their separate ways and returned to their respective people and continued to enjoy their time at the dance.

When their names were called, Thompson remembers being confused at first, but then got her crown and went back to her friends. According to Walton, over all, the dance was fun and the music was even better than last year’s selection. Both Walton and Thompson enjoyed attending the dance as seniors and making memories.

“[The experience] was great. I would probably relive it if I could. I always have fun at the dances, but it was more fun knowing that it was my last one and I was going with my best friends,” Thompson said.
