In front of a crowd of about 8000 people, SHS lost to the top ranked New Albany Bulldogs 82-64 in the semi-state match up.

At the beginning of the game each team traded threes made by the Bulldogs’ Romeo Langford and SHS’ Joey Brunk. At the first media timeout the Bulldogs lead 13-8 and they never looked back.

After the first media timeout, Langford took over the game. He would finish the first half with 21 points. He helped his team to a 23-13 lead by the end of the first quarter. His scoring explosion coincided with Eli Walton getting into foul trouble and exiting the game.

Not only did Langford hit 8 of 12 from three point range but his team knocked down their shots as well.

“They hit 11 of 18 from three. That was the difference in the game,” coach Kyle Simpson said.

As the second half started, the Bulldogs reaffirmed their control over the game outscoring the Cards 22-13 during the third quarter. By the time the third quarter was over Langford had 43 of his 46 total points.

For the Cards Brunk had a team high 22 points and Paul Scruggs had 19. It was the final high school basketball game for seniors David Reyes, Eli Walton, Luke Johnston, Evan Higgs and Brunk.
To conclude the afternoon, the SHS student section chanted during the final moments of the game, “Thank you seniors!”
