New girls basketball coach keeps positive momentum at SHS

After coaching a huge turnaround season last year at Arlington High School, recently hired girl’s basketball coach Bart Collins hopes to keep his and the teams upward momentum. Collins was also an assistant coach at Roncalli before becoming the head coach at Arlington just last season. Collins has coached for 12 years and he took the opening of the head coaching job for girl’s varsity basketball at SHS after Matt Seifers unexpectedly left.

“While I was at Roncalli we played Southport a number of times, and I really developed a lot of respect for the school community and basketball tradition here,” Collins said.

He says that the girls are very hard working and dedicated and he can see talent in them already.
