The SHS boys soccer team defeated Perry Meridian last night, 3-2, in the rivalry game.

Senior and captain Van Lian scored two of the team’s three goals. Lian has upped his total goals scored this season to 11 after last night. Perry Meridian scored first 19 minutes into the game followed by two goals in 90 seconds by Lian.

After halftime, the Falcons came out and scored very quickly to tie the game at 2-2. With less than six minutes left, junior Bawi Phutin scored the game winner.

Coach Josh Brown said that it was an effort win and the team never quit.

“When Perry (Meridian) tied it, it would’ve been easy to give up,” Brown said, “but they stuck with it and got the win in a hard-fought game.”

The team is back on Saturday with a home game versus Ben Davis.
