The Perry Township School Board officially extended Superintendent Dr. Thomas Little’s medical leave indefinitely on Oct. 3. According to a statement that was emailed to all Perry Township Staff from School Board President Charles Mercer, Associate Superintendent Patrick Mapes will be the acting Superintendent of Perry Township for the time being.
“Both the board and Dr. Little have full confidence in Mr. Mapes’ ability to lead Perry during Dr. Little’s absence,” Mercer said at the school board meeting.
Principal Brian Knight thinks that Little’s extended medical leave is a good decision.
“This is the best thing for Dr. Little right now,” Knight said. “I look forward to working with Mapes, and I don’t think we are going to be seeing any changes.”
