The boys basketball team’s season officially came to an end on March 3, as the Roncalli Rebels defeated them in the first round of sectionals at Decatur Central.

Roncalli was in the lead the entire game, and ended with the score being 62-42.

“I thought they played hard,” Coach Simpson said. “They (SHS) are just inexperienced, and they (Roncalli) are veteran guys, which has been the overtone all year, but it just got us in the end.”

Despite the loss, not only Simpson but many of the players take this as a learning experience. The majority of the team will be returning next year to play, including sophomore Brian Miller.

“I definitely grew a lot from the beginning of the season to now,” Miller said.
