Returning from a 2-1 loss against Northwestern last week, the SHS boys soccer team defeated Conference Indiana team Franklin Central 4-0 on Thursday Sept. 18.

After the first half of play, the score was 0-0. SHS came out and had four different players score in the second half. The goals were scored by juniors Anthony Bil, Lal Mawi and Bawi Phutin along with senior Van Lian.

Lian now has a total of 16 goals for this season, which is more than he scored all of last year. So far this season, every game that Lian has played in he has scored.

The cards are now 8-2 and have clinched one of the top two spots in Conference Indiana. SHS boys soccer has never won the Conference Indiana title according to head coach Mr. Josh Brown.

“We’ve got a couple teams in sectionals that we have played before and beat that we are very familiar with,” Brown said. “They want to beat us so we have the big target on our backs now.”

SHS will play their next match on Saturday, Sept. 20 at non-conference Mount Vernon starting at 4:20 p.m.
