Positive COVID-19 test cancels season opener
SHS football game against Roncalli called off due to a coronavirus case
For the first time since the 2008 season, SHS football will not play their season opener against Roncalli High School.
The first game of the football season, scheduled for Aug. 21, has been cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test among the football team.
According to a statement made by Perry Township, the team is no longer allowed to play or practice until the Marion County Health Department directs them to resume practices and games. Around 10 of the SHS football players are required to quarantine and are not allowed to return to school until Sep. 1. This means their next game against PMHS, scheduled for Aug. 28, is likely in jeopardy.
