On Nov. 24, the SHS girls basketball team faced off against the Perry Meridian Falcons. The Cards lost 42-31, but were led by 10 points from senior Maddy Newhouse and nine from senior Gracie Cherry. All of Cherry’s points came from the first half, helping the Cards come out strong and go into halftime with a 17-15 lead.

“The first half went well,” sophomore Katie Cherry said. “But the second half we didn’t start out well and we got down on ourselves.”

The Cards had a rough third quarter only scoring two points, but gave up 15 points to the Falcons in the third. The 13 point differential in this quarter, alongside the Falcons’ defensive efforts, helped lead them to victory.

The Cards have had a tough start to the season as they are 0-8 right now. Despite regaining Maddy Newhouse, Macy Chafin and Emily Galbraith after a two-week quarantine, they were unable to pull out their first win of the season Tuesday night.
