In what is expected to be one of the best meets of the year, the SHS girls swim team faces off against the Perry Meridian Falcons tonight.

The Cards are fresh off of a loss from Tuesday night to Greenwood. The loss was by a margin of 8 points, 6 of which because the Cards didn’t have any divers to participate. Head coach Matt Jeffries says that the lack of divers may be an issue against Perry.

“It will be a great meet,” Jeffries said. “I expect that we will see some of our fastest times of the year. If the girls lose it won’t be because they were out swam. It would be because we don’t have any divers and Perry has a good diving program with a full diving lineup. Perry diving is a 13 point advantage that we don’t have an answer for.”

In a swim meet, there are 180 points up for stake, meaning receiving 91 points will guarantee you a win. The 13 point Perry advantage already put the Cards down in a big hole.

Come watch your Cardinals in action tonight against Perry Meridian. The meet is at home, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
