3 places to expand your fall fun

Summer has slipped away into a moment of time, and fall has finally arrived. Fall lasts until Dec. 21, so make the season count. It’s time to grab the flannels and pumpkin spice lattes on the go, because there are many great places to visit during the season of fall.

Starting off the top of the list of places to visit over fall is Brown County State Park. The park  has over 16,000 acres and is located in Nashville, Ind., one hour south of Indianapolis. In this park, the many hues of red and orange leaves can be seen throughout the trails during the fall season. Alongside their hiking trails, one can also camp on their campgrounds, fish in their lakes, visit their nature center, go kayaking and giddy up and ride horses as well. There are  two lakes in this park, Lake Strahl and Lake Ogle. In these lakes, fishing and kayaking are available to participate in. One might find something new to learn or do in the nature center; Brown County State Park’s nature center offers many different programs and activities year round. With so many different adventures to go on, there’s something for everybody. 

Alongside Brown County State Park, Apple Works is a great place to visit. With over 60 different kinds of apples to choose from, Apple Works is a must see orchard for Hoosiers. Other than apples, they have fun activities for all ages. The orchard has a farm, mazes, slides, pumpkins and a gift shop. Their farm has a plethora of animals including goats, chickens, sheep, llamas and ponies. Everyone is allowed to feed these animals with the provided animal food. Want to go on an adventure within the orchard? One can try to master their bamboo maze. Or take the scenic route down their many different slides. They have many different options of things to do. Not a fan of anything listed so far? Check out their gift shop filled with many different souvenirs and sweet treats for customers to purchase. And since it is fall time, don’t forget to grab a pumpkin on the way out. Apple Works offers pumpkins to bring home and carve, decorate and to bake. Nobody will have any trouble trying to stay busy at Apple Works with their wide selection of activities to do.  

With a seven-acre corn maze, endless hayrides, pumpkins and more, Kelsay Farms is a must see fall spot. This farm is a six generation family owned farm that continues the tradition of their fall activities. Their seasonal activities last until Oct. 30, so it’s time to jump on the hayride and go visit them before they close. Alongside corn mazes, hayrides and pumpkins, Kelsay Farms offers many other things to do. This includes a jump pad, Corn Crib play area, Hop Dots, cornhole games, straw play area and pumpkins to take home.” There’s something for everyone at this farm. Bring along friends and family down to Kelsay Farms in Whiteland for a variety of fall adventures.
