The pipeline from Culture reporter to photographer and co-Opinion editor to Photos editor is real. Definitely real, and I have lived to tell the tale.
It’s a bittersweet feeling. Before senior year, I used to measure my school year by months. Now, I’ve been measuring them by issues, but in every life, I’d do this again.
When Mr. K told me The Journal would be the most influential class I take, he wasn’t wrong. I’ve learned a lot, more than just AP style.
Room 400 is where I found my passion for journalism. I remember finding myself as I strayed away from only being a photographer to becoming co-Opinion editor at the same time, mid-junior year. Despite the odd changes, it prepared me for being this year’s Photos Editor.
A year later, I’m straying away once again, but this time from being a high school student to being a college student. While exciting, it keeps me up at night.
With the end of one journey comes another: I’m pursuing journalism and psychology in college.
Before I sign off, I want to acknowledge a few people. Mr. K, thank you for always encouraging me. You’ve helped prepare me for the world outside of Room 400. To Mr. Luers, you made the history setting a comfortable place, and I won’t forget your knowledge. To Mr. Armbruster, I found another piece of myself in AP Psychology, and I’m grateful to have taken it. To Herr Sponsler, where do I even begin? You’ve always believed in me. I know whether I pass that AP German test or not, you’ll still think I’m a great student.
It’s been fun, but it’s time I switch out this camera’s battery and shift the focus. Auf Wiedersehen, Leute.
