Salem Ortega-Morales, Culture Reporter
Hi everyone, my name is Salem Ortega-Morales. However, very few know me as Michelle. I am a sophomore and a culture writer for The Journal. This will be my first year, and I am very excited to work with everyone on staff! I took semester journalism my freshman year and decided to try and land a spot on The Journal, so here I am. To learn a little more about me, I love cats. I have two of them, Shadow and Bruno. I really enjoy music, and I will most likely be seen with earbuds in most of the time. The artists I listen to the most are Tyler the Creator, Steve Lacy, Mitski and Frank Ocean. I do listen to more bands than artists. Bands like The Arctic Monkeys, The Cure, Queen, Magneto and Hombres G. I listen to many genres of music, my favorites being Japanese Pop and Rock. But, I hate country music. I used to dream of being in a band when I was younger, but as I grew older, that dream faded, and I found my love for journalism instead. As of right now, I’m on the path to becoming a well-known journalist. Another fact about me is that I speak two languages, English and Spanish. Most of my heritage comes from Mexico, my family and ancestors come from there as well. I’d like to go down there when I’m older to see family I haven’t met. To end things off, I can’t wait to work with everyone on staff, and I’m excited to bring good things to The Journal!
