With the breeze of the cold wind flowing through their hair, the Lady Cards strived to take control of the ball. They were taking on one of the highest-ranked state teams, Bloomington South High, who attempted to trouble their streak.
On Saturday morning, girls´ varsity soccer and the Panthers went head to head, with the Lady Cards losing 13-0 at Holder Field.
Though the Lady Cards were down, they still showed aggressiveness even if they thought they were going to lose.

“Obviously (this was) not one of our better games, but there were some few little bright spots amongst the lopsidedness,” head coach Cory Sandvold said.
By the time the 20 minute mark passed in the first half, the score was 0-5 with the Panthers having control.
“We kind of just expected people to be there (to pass the ball), so I think we need to think more about our decisions on the field,” freshman Makenna Staton said.
But junior goalie Kennedy Cochran stayed locked in for the first half, helping the team stay strong.
Although there were some plays that didn’t go their way, they kept fighting to keep themselves in it.
Despite the fact that they were playing behind in the first half, Lady Cards still gave their best effort, leaving the field 0-8.

Leading off the second half, the Panthers kept working towards the win without any intention of letting it go.
After subbing in new players, they all fought together to the end. The game ended with a mercy rule in the 20 minute half with a score of 0-13, which left SHS with an unfortunate loss.
Though the game didn’t go their way, it showed the Lady Cards what they need to work on for the next game at Pike high school on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
“(I want to) really work on following my target and just staying with her,” senior Dawt Khun said.
