Boys cross country runner set to make comeback

Comeback stories are found in every sport. Drew Brees came back from a torn labrum in 2006. Tiger Woods is coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a double stress fracture in 2008. Now, sophomore Jose Telez, a Cardinal cross country runner, is set to make his comeback.

Telez only ran in four meets last year because the fallen arches in his feet causes him severe knee pain. However, he was determined to get back to full health so that he could help his team make it to Semi-State.

“I’ve put a lot of hard work and dedication into not missing a lot of practices and working harder and harder at every practice,” Telez said.

Dedication and hard work are keys to a comeback. Even though he’s only a sophomore, Telez is an integral part of the boys cross country team. He is one of the top runners on varsity. Having their number four runner back gives the Cards may pave their road to Semi-State.

The SHS boys cross country team begins their road to Semi-State on Saturday at Sectionals. This is where Telez will have the chance to truly complete his comeback.
