Girls soccer vs. Perry Meridian preview

SHS girls soccer team has gone 0-3, losing to three non-conference teams including Mount Vernon, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and Greenwood. SHS is on a 14-game losing streak from last year to this year.

The team has scored a total of two goals all season, both by sophomore Erin Sullivan. Sullivan lead the team in goals last year with three.

The team will be hosting conference team and rival Perry Meridian on Sept. 3. The varsity game will start at approximately 7:30 p.m. at Mary Bryan Elementary School.

Southport lost to Perry Meridian in last years game, 8-0. Perry graduated three seniors last year compared to Southport graduating seven. Coming into tonight’s game 3-0, Perry Meridian senior Maddie Fleet has scored seven goals this season.

“We have to start well and gain confidence,” varsity head coach Dan McLaughlin said. ”It is a rivalry game so it should be intense.”

The girls are looking to win tonight’s game vs. Perry Meridian and looking to win their game since the middle of last season.
